1976 Ibanez Super 70 / Maxon U-1000 Pickups Matched Set

I took these out of the Burny Goldtop that I recently had for sale. These came non-original, loaded in that guitar when it arrived from Japan.

1976 Maxon-made U-1000 pickups. These have alnico8 magnets and are essentially the same as Ibanez Super70s. Check the serial no. and the braided wire. These are high quality Japanese vintage pickups.

I would check out the page below about these pickups, pretty much in line with my experiences. These have become sought-after pickups, and this matched set is in amazing shape with plenty of lead left. Unmodified and with some pickups rings to boot.

My experience with the sound is that they are very round PAF clone pickups, definitely on par or better than the Gibson 57 Classics. These are lower output and have an awesome bell like clean tone. Awesome midrange and a great note bloom when driven. Definitely on the fatter side, and would be great for jazz, blues, or classic rock. Would work best in a Les Paul, I reckon.

Asking $135 shipped via PayPal Gift in the pickup rings for the set. This is a very reasonable price, and I am firm on it. Cash only and no trades please.

For Sale: 1987 – 1988 Burny Super Grade Goldtop RLG-50 Les Paul Standard style guitar

Hello geekrobot readers,

Recently I had a birthday and it also sort of marks a long time spent playing, collecting, and trading guitars. So I saw my perfect axe and decided to go for it. Now, it’s not crazy expensive, but to make room (and cash) for it, I had to pick one guitar to sacrifice — an offering to this beastly demon spirit of guitar gear trading that has possessed me for so much of my life.

I have for sale a 1987 or 1988 Burny Les Paul Standard style guitar. This is a high-quality vintage Japanese Les Paul copy, made by Fernandes Guitars, along the lines of Tokai, Greco, Epiphone Elitist Series, and Edwards. I’ve owned many Burny guitars, and they’ve all been amazing. This one is no exception.

I purchased this guitar from a respected user at the MyLesPaul.com forums who lives in Japan. I will regret letting it go.

Here’s the lowdown:

– Based on the appointments and catalogs, this looks like an RLG-50 model.

– Came with non-stock MIJ 1976 Maxon-made U-1000 pickups. These have alnico8 magnets and are essentially the same as the sought-after Ibanez Super70s. Original pickups would have been Burny VH3/VH4 PAF replicas. I replaced these with very high-end WCR Crossroads PAF style pickups, which are currently in there. I can reload the U-1000s, leave the WCRs, or give both sets, depending on what you’re after.

– Some minor wear and hard to notice finish cracks, etc includng a surface finish crack by the tailpiece stud. Please see the pictures for details. They are not major cosmetic issues, but full disclosure here.

– Some fretwear in spots however the frets have lots of meat left. See the pics for details.

– Tuners are changed to Gotoh Grover-style.

– Made in Japan – Dyna Gakki or possibly Fuji-gen build. Fret-edge binding, trapezoid inlays, Gibson-style open-book headstock, this thing has all the features of a LP Standard.

– Will come with a light gigbag.

I am asking:
-$750 for this guitar with the Maxon U-1000 pickups, as I’d received it
-$925 for this guitar with the WCR Crossroads pickups in it, as it sits now (sounds killer, by the way)
-$1000 for this guitar with the installed WCRs and the extra U-1000 set

I can meet in Midtown or Downtown Manhattan, or in Jersey City near Grove St. or Newport. Please, no lowball offers, and no trades. Meetups cash and face-to-face transactions only. Will also ship; buyer will pay actual shipping costs and paypal fees.

Any questions, just ask.
